There are worse fates than dying at the hands/paws/pseudopods of Hastur, mortals. You could be zealous in your own faith when the Esoteric Order of Dagon, my own evangelists, come to town seeking gunpoint conversions and breeding stock. You could be born a Whateley and have all the dangers of inbreeding and worshipping Yog Sothoth. You could even gaze into a shining trapezohedron and inadvertently summon the Haunter of the Dark. There are worse fates than Hastur, mortals, but not many.
